The inner workings of Vanson Leathers

Two years ago I visited the Vanson Leathers factory in Fall River Massachusets. The building is a huge old place with loads of character and history. From the outside you would never find a clue as to what lies just inside the tiny door in the lower right corner of the huge football field sized building.

Vanson and I have a great working relationship. They take care of me when it's most important (when I'm face-planting myself into the pavement at ridiculous speeds), and I take care of them when it's most appropriate (when it's time to tell people like you, just how good Vanson leathers are). Believe me, I have worn quite a few different suits by now and none of them protect as well as Vanson does. It's pretty amazing actually, when you think about it. I mean just imagine jumping off the hood of your car tomorrow while you're jamming down the road to work at 80mph. How in the hell is it possible that you can survive something like not only that, but more than DOUBLE that?!!

It's pretty interesting how Vanson makes a leather suit. The main reason I went there was to gather vdieo footage so we could share the experience. So how would you like to come along? Sound interesting enough? I thought it might, so I've done a bit of work over the last month to help make this happen. The following videos you are about to see are each separate chapters of a much longer production that Vanson just asked me to make for them. You might have to give each video a moment or two to develop a buffer so you can veiw them at real-time. You also need the latest Quicktime Player to view thesevideos so if you can't see shyite, download the free player here - Quicktime.com

Chapter I - Intro Montage (below)
Chapter II - Measure and Cut (initial steps of production, design, and cutting)
Chapter III - Tour (introduction to the business end of the factory)
Chapter IV - Gloves (close-up look into how Vanson makes gloves)
Chapter V - Crash Repair (crash montage followed by repair service intro)

The first chapter is the Intro Montage. Not very educational, but somewhat entertaining. It gives an idea of how far Vanson reaches into not only road racing, but also street riding, fashion, drag racing, car racing, and just about anywhere you need protection with style.

OK that was fun, but now let's get to the business end of Vanson Leathers. The MEASURE AND CUT chapter covers how Vanson processes your order, how they generate the computer graphics which set Vanson apart, how the water jet cuts those graphics, and much more.
